Carrington Communities (a division of the Carrington Group of Companies) is an award winning leader in condominium development and construction in Edmonton and area.
Carrington’s previous website was a brand based site that didn’t allow for them to showcase their communities or drive potential leads from advertising to their website.
My main challenge was to design a website that allowed for promotion of each individual community as a unique Carrington brand to different audiences while maintaining consistency and ease of editing for the Carrington communication’s team.
The resulting website uses a series of templates that utilizes similar components but displays the components in different ways. For example, higher end condos incorporate more white space and cleanliness throughout their template to showcase images and features differently than more budget-conscious options. By using similar components, we created consistency for Carrington’s designers to know what sizes of images and elements to make for each page. We customized the templates to allow for the use of SVGs to compensate for some of the communities whose brands were developed without web fonts.
Users can easily view which units are available and what the floorpans of the those units are. For this specific view, we used an existing product for the back end of the site and modified it’s functionality to allow Carrington to be able to import SVG floorpans and a reference CSV that maps each shape on the floor plan, the availability and the features of the unit.
